What’s The Best Way To Stop Losing Hair?

by admin on January 5, 2010

Losing hair is worrying for everyone, since not many people really want to be bald, or partially bald. However, despite lots of money spent on the research of hair, and what causes some people to start losing hair at an early age, the results are still somewhat unclear.

We do know that it is normal to lose between 50 and 150 hairs everyday, as each hair goes through its own cycle of growing, resting and shedding. The worry occurs when we see more evidence of hair loss, either by more hair in the shower, or on the pillow, or on a sweater.

Be aware that anyone of any age and origin can have trouble with losing excessive hair, and there are a number of reasons for this loss. Stress gets blamed for a lot of health problems, and for good reason. If you are stressed then your body is having a harder time keeping you healthy, and when you think about it, stress often leads to a less than ideal diet, as you feel you need a treat for having so much stress in your life. Poor diet in its turn means again that your body cannot be efficient, and cannot help you as much as a good diet would.

Your body will not get the nutrients it needs from a poor diet of junk food, and again your health suffers. Along with this, your hair suffers too, as it needs proteins to build it and various nutrients and vitamins to stay healthy. If these are missing, then you could start losing hair at a faster rate than you want.

Losing more hair than normal could also be the sign of hormonal imbalance, especially if you are female and gave birth a few months prior to noticing the hair loss. Also, the thyroid can affect hair loss too, by being either too active, or too slow. This means that if you notice that you are losing more hair than is normal for you, you really should see your medical doctor to find out what the reason is for this loss, and to find out what you can do to rectify the problem.

There are some diseases which can result in hair loss, like diabetes, so getting a check up is an excellent idea, just to make sure the rest of your body is in good health.

Of course, mentioning good health, you know you need to exercise on a regular basis too, right? Not that it will make your hair start growing back, but because it is good for your overall health and well being!

Studies have shown that a few months after major surgery, hair can start falling out. This is due to the shock that the body goes through. In most cases, the hair will grow back, but it can be appalling to find it happening to you.

Then, of course, there is your family history. If all your relatives went bald early, then don’t be surprised if it happens to you too. It isn’t an automatic thing to happen, but you could take some precautions like maintaining a good diet, and looking after yourself well, so that you have less chance of it happening to you.

There are many options to try to get your hair growing again, but not all methods have had success with everyone. Nor do hair transplants work for everyone. Laser hair therapy does seem to be having some success these days, but the process can be lengthy and so expensive. However, if losing your hair means that much to you, then it could be worth it for your peace of mind.

But in the meantime to stop losing your hair, start with a healthy diet and exercise – it certainly won’t do you any harm!
